Invitation to the PhD course: Communication Innovation Studies

The Department of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen, is pleased to invite PhD candidates (and other interested researchers) to the two-day long course titled: «Communication Innovation Studies»

The course will be held on 25 and 26 September at the Department. Lecturers are Prof. Dr. Joseph Trappel (Prof. II at our Department) and Prof. Robin Mansell (LSE). Possible additional lecturers will be confirmed at a later stage.

This is a great opportunity to engage with a new and emerging research field that connects in various ways with the fields and areas that many PhD candidates are working within. It promises to be two very rewarding days in a simulating environment with internationally leading scholars, and we are also pleased to invite all participants to a welcoming dinner and lunch.

When and where: 25 –26 September, 2014 – Department of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen, Norway.

Who may participate: Open for all Media and communication students and researchers holding a corresponding MA degree

Course description in brief: In this course, students will assess and analyse the various forms of media and communication change that affects the entire ecosystem of public communication, including the blurring boundaries of interpersonal and public communication. Communication Innovation Studies stands for the development of a new and emerging research field which comprises not only the analysis of the business models of incumbent media organizations and media corporations, but also the requirements of contemporary democracies in relation to public communication.
